# How Do I Remove the Screen Lock or PIN From My Device?

## How to remove your device's screen lock before sending it for repair.

Before sending your device for repair, remove any PIN, password, pattern, or other screen lock that could prevent the repair technician from accessing and testing your device.

The exact steps may vary depending on your device.

**Samsung and Other Android Devices**

On most Android devices:

1. Open **Settings**.
2. Select **Lock Screen**, **Security**, or **Security & Privacy**.
3. Select **Screen Lock Type** or **Screen Lock**.
4. Enter your current PIN, password, or pattern.
5. Select **None** or **Swipe** to remove the screen lock.

Menu names and options may vary depending on your device model and Android version.

**Apple Devices**

For an iPhone or iPad:

1. Open **Settings**.
2. Select **Face ID & Passcode** or **Touch ID & Passcode**.
3. Enter your current passcode.
4. Select **Turn Passcode Off**.
5. Follow the prompts to confirm.

Apple devices may also require **Find My** to be turned off before they can be repaired.

**Before Sending Your Device**

You should also:

- Back up your important data.
- Remove your SIM card.
- Remove cases and other accessories.
- Follow any additional instructions provided for your repair.

Removing security locks allows the repair technician to properly access, test, and verify your device during the repair process.
