How Do I Turn Off Find My Before Sending My Apple Device for Repair?

How to turn off Find My before sending your iPhone or iPad for repair.

If you are sending an Apple device for repair, you must turn off Find My before the device can be serviced.

Find My includes Apple's Activation Lock, which can prevent a repair technician from accessing or servicing your device.

How to Turn Off Find My

On your iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap your name/Apple Account at the top of the screen.
  3. Select Find My.
  4. Tap Find My iPhone or Find My iPad.
  5. Turn off Find My iPhone/iPad.
  6. Enter your Apple Account password if prompted.
  7. Confirm that Find My has been turned off.
What If I Can't Access My Device?

If you cannot access the settings on your device, you may be able to remove the device from your Apple Account using another Apple device or through your Apple Account online.

Make sure the device is no longer protected by Activation Lock before sending it for repair.

Before Sending Your Device

Remember to also:

  • Back up any important data.
  • Remove your SIM card.
  • Remove cases and other accessories.
  • Remove any screen locks or passcodes as instructed.

Do not send your device until you have completed the preparation steps provided with your repair instructions.
